OFF TO THE RACES......pack your Royal Ascot Fascinators and your Top Hat for a weekend of country and culture. Stay in a private club in Philadelphia, meet with the Director of Races, drink Pimm's Cups with both the owners and the Whips of the parade carriages, enjoy lunch in the Radnor Hunt clubhouse and visit the Brandywine River Museum home of the paintings and illustrations of N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth.
Day 1 Upon arrival in Philadelphia, settle into your accommodations at the Inn at the Union League, a prestigious private club located on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts. Enjoy exploring the museums and historic sites before joining your fellow hunt enthusiasts for a welcome reception with Skip Achuff, Director of Races for the Radnor Hunt. The remainder of the evening is free to enjoy dinner on your own at one of Philadelphia's exciting restaurants, or you may choose to dine at the League's acclaimed 1862 Restaurant or its casual Meredith Café.
Day 2 After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, meet with Mr. James Mundy, the Director of Library & Historical Collections of the Union League for a tour of the League's distinguished art collection and the League's Heritage Center and its collection of important Civil War pieces. Then it's off to the rolling hills of Chester County for an afternoon at the 82nd Radnor Hunt where you will enjoy lunch in the clubhouse and watch the action from your reserved superbox overlooking the finish line. During a lull in the races you will have the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive demonstration of the parade carriages by the accomplished Whip, John Frazier Hunt.
Day 3 Depart for an excursion to the Brandywine River Museum, a Civil War-era grist mill converted into a modern museum showcasing American art. The museum is internationally known for its unparalleled collection of works by three generations of Wyeths and its fine collection of American illustrations, still life and landscape painting. The Brandywine Conservancy's Wildflower and Native Plant Gardens at the Brandywine River Museum are a living representation of the Conservancy's mission to preserve, protect and share American artistic, natural and historical resources, principally of the Brandywine region.
